A Weekend with Miles

Meet Miles. He is 4 (turning 5 next week). His mom, Susannah, has been one of my dearest Alaskan friends and I have watched Miles grow up most of his life. His dad is a musician and came down to Homer to play a couple of shows this past weekend, so Patrick and I got to spend a good part of our weekend with this delightful little guy.

Sweet Home Alaska

It was so wonderful to finally make it back to Alaska. It truly is the most beautiful place of all.

Canada

Canada is gigantic. So is Alaska. By the time we drove from Oklahoma City to Vancouver, we were not even halfway to Homer yet. We made it through Canada pretty quickly, driving long days. We saw tons of bears and the further north we got, the more daylight we had. One of our favorite stops was a campsite outside of Iskut, BC. Here are some of my favorite Canada photos.

Whistler, BC

We decided to skip over Vancouver so that we could spend some time in Whistler. Patrick's aunt and uncle have a beautiful home there that they were so kind to let us stay. It was one of our favorite places on the trip and if we didn't have a show in Anchorage to make it back to, we would have stayed longer. Here are some photos of some of my favorite parts of the house, as well as the village and an amazing BBQ restaurant we spent an afternoon at.

Vancouver

We passed through Vancouver, only stopping for dinner. We got there just as Vancouver beat Boston in the second game of the Stanley Cup. It was pretty crazy everywhere-so glad we weren't there after they lost.

Portland

I am not sure how, but we made it through Oregon and Washington with only a couple of photos. While in Portland, we got to see several of our Oklahoma friends who now live there. The night we arrived we had a bonfire at Jessica and Daniel's house.

California

We had a blast driving up the coast of California. We drove to LA and then headed straight up. The drive was gorgeous and we were graced with beautiful weather the whole way.
